"Baby,
Be Mine"
May 22 - June 28, 2008
Created by Kevin T. Morales
Capping off a season of well received shows, Town Hall Theatre
Company has a last-minute surprise for its audience - a Kevin
Morales original production for the final show. Morales’ works
are always popular with audiences, and Baby, Be Mine
promises to be fresh, witty and very musical.
Baby, Be Mine is the story of a young actress who,
following the opening night of a Broadway show, invites one
of the producers back to her place to pitch him the next great
idea for a 1930's style musical revue. Romance is in the air
(and maybe in the wine) as the two collaborate to create a
story of a composer and his muse struggling in New York during
The Depression. The romantic fates of their fictitious protagonists
seem to parallel their own, but the course of love never did
run smoothly.
Kevin Morales has written other acclaimed and pieces for
Town Hall, including Let’s Go to the Movies, Let’s Go to
Casablanca, Love Lafayette and Carol of the Bells.
“We love it when Kevin writes a piece for us, and audiences
do, too,” says Dennis Erokan, president of the Town Hall Theatre
board of directors. “And this is a show not to miss – not
only because of Kevin’s new work, but also because it’s the
last show where our audience can see two of our most popular
actors. Sean Robert Griffin and Meghann May will be heading
to New York right after the show for engagements there.”
“I can never pass up the opportunity to write something
for the stage.” says Kevin Morales, THT Artistic Director.
“It's a wonderful education to create a scenario, work with
the actors, and then put it on in front of audiences. I learn
something new about the art of dramatic writing every time
I'm given this chance. This process in particular is interesting
because I wanted to create something more traditional, but
I still can't help throwing in a twist, structuring the show
in a way that doesn't make it a typical revue. I have a fantastic
cast, and we've chosen some amazing music from the ‘30s and
beyond. It's a sexy, fun show that I think lots of people
will enjoy.”
